CASTELLETTO DI BRANDUZZO IS READY TO HOST THE FIFTH GRAND PRIX OF THE 2022 SEASON

Castelletto di Branduzzo (Italy), 22 September 2022 – After more than two months of break, the battle for the FIM Supermoto World Championship will continue this weekend at the International Motordrome of Castelletto di Branduzzo, Italy, which hosts the Grand Prix of Lombardy for the second year in a row. The track is a combination of long straights, fast corners and two challenging sections, one off-road and the other in the asphalted Sky Section where the drivers can enhance their skills.

Leader in the S1GP class is the L30 Racing / TM Factory rider Marc-Reiner Schmidt and in this GP he  will try to  increase his advantage in the championship standings after the victory gained  in the GP of the Czech Republic, following the previous success obtained in the first seasonal GP of Busca, Italy. Runner up is the French champion Thomas Chareyre (SMX ASD – TM), winner of the GP of Sardinia and currently in second positions with a gap of  5 points to the leader , enough to ensure a spectacular battle  on the international circuit of Castelletto di Branduzzo this  weekend.

Third position in the championship is for Austrian Lukas Hollbacher (KTM MTR Team) with a gap of only 8 points from the French rider, and for sure he will do his best to reduce the gap from the first position

Fourth in the championship is the Italian L30 Racing / TM Factory, Elia Sammartin, just crowned national champion and very motivated to get on the podium in front of his public. The top five of the S1GP class is completed by the Czech driver Milan Sitniansky (Tuning Motorsport – Honda) who will try to gain the podium as happened in the first round in Busca.

Other riders searching for glory are the Austrian Rookie Andreas Bushberger ( KTM MTR) , the Italian S1GP SBD Giovanni Bussei, the Belgian Romeo Fiorentino (Gazza Racing Honda Red Moto team), the Estonian Patrick Pals (L30 team Racing / TM Factory) , the Swedish Gustapson Hampus, the Italian Daniele Di Cicco (DDC Raging team) , Michael Vertemati (Vertemati Racing), the Brazilian Justino Kleber (Tuning Motorsport), the Swiss Mitja Krasniqi, the French Tim Slazai and Nicolas Vandommele (TM Racing Belgium).

The state is still open also in the Rookie Cup, riders racing together with the premier class S1GP but with a separated classification. Top three spots of the classifications are for French riders. Leader is Axel Marie Luce (TM), winner of two rounds, who is currently 17 points  Youry Catherine (Gazza Racing Honda Red Moto),winner of the last GP of Catalonia. Third place in the ranking is for Steve Bonnal (Team TC4R1 Racing Team – TM) who has a gap of only 4 points from the second position.

The European Supermoto SM Junior Championship has reached his fifth and second last round of the season. Current leader in the championship is the Spaniard Ramon Godino (Yamaha) ,but after the two Bulgarian rounds the Estonian  Rasmus Ebelmann (Husqvarna) is only three points behind the leader with the Czech Matej Kokes (Husqvarna) in third position with a gap of only five points to the leader.

The rich program of the weekend will include also the new European Championship S4 class reserved for riders racing only on the asphalt track. This round will be the last of the season and will crown the European Champion. Current leader is the Spanish Ruiz Jimenez (L30 Racing TM Factory) that with his 100 points is followed by the Italians Kevin Vandi (L30 Factory – TM Factory) and Giorgio Cravotto (Gazza Racing Honda Red Moto), respectively with 86 and 67 points.

Sunday: S4 Warm-up, SM Junior Warm-up, S1GP & S1 Rookie Warm-up from 08.25; S4 Race-1 11.20; SM Junior Race-1 12.35; S1GP & S1 Rookie Fast Race 13.20; S4 Race-2 14.40; SM Junior Race-2 16.00; S1GP & S1 Rookie Super Final 17.20 followed by the Prize giving ceremony.
