ALEX RUIZ-GIMENEZ AND JORDI GAUME TAKES THE POLE POSITIONS IN S4 AND SM JUNIOR

Alcarras  (Spain), 7 May 2022 – For the S4 Supermoto European Championship the championship continued today with the free and timed practices on the Circuit of Alcarras in the region of Catalunya. In Spain the SM Junior championship makes its debut with their first round of the season. The racetrack of Alcarras was perfectly prepared and with its combination of fast straights, technical corners and challenging off-road sections all riders had to work hard to get the best times on the clock. In the S4 class it was L30 Racing TM Factory rider Alex Ruiz-Gimenez took the pole position for the races tomorrow. In the SM Junior class it was Spanish KTM rider Jordi Gaume who was fastest today in the time practice.

Free practices S4

In the free practices of the S4 class fastest riders were SGR Grau Racing rider David Burbano and L30 Racing TM Factory rider Alex Ruiz-Gimenez who where fastest in these sessions in front of Spanish rider Mauro Gonzalez Rojas and the teammate of Ruiz-Gimenez, Kevin Vandi.

Time practice S4

The time practice of the S4 class started at 13:00 hours in the afternoon in sunny and very warm weather conditions. Directly after the start of the time practice all riders went on the track to set their best times of the day. Like in the free practices it was a battle between four riders. L30 Racing TM Factory riders Alex Ruiz-Gimenez and Kevin Vandi started the session with fast lap times but both couldn’t rest as SGR Grau Racing riders David Burbano and Mauro Gonzalez Rojas where right behind them. Halfway the time practice Burbano opened the attack on Ruiz-Gimenez and took over the fastest time but not long after his fast lap, Burbano was back in second place as Ruiz-Gimenez did an almost perfect lap on the hot asphalt. Burbano attacked back but couldn’t get any closer than 00:408 seconds. With his fastest lap Alex Ruiz-Gimenez, who is the current leader in the championship, took the pole position for the races tomorrow.

Free practices SM Junior

In the free practices of the SM Junior class the fastest junior riders were SGR Grau Racing rider Max Serra and KTM rider Jordi Gaya followed by another Spanish rider Ramon Godino.

 

Time practice SM Junior

The time practice of the S4 class started at 13:25 hours in the afternoon after the S4 class.

When the green light was given the youngster went on track to fight for the pole position of the race tomorrow in Alcarras. The fastest riders of the free practices were also the fastest riders in this timed practices. KTM rider Jordi Gaume set the fastest time in front of SGR Grau Racing rider Max Serra. Third rider in the classification gave all he could, but Ramon Godino couldn’t come any closer than 2.635 seconds on the winning time of Jordi Gaya.
