MARC-REINER SCHMIDT SUCCEEDS AND CONVINCES THE AUDIENCE IN ST. WENDEL
St. Wendel (Germany), 10th June 2023 – A large audience filled the grandstands at the track of St. Wendel for the show offered by the S1GP riders. Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing Tm factory) came home with the victory of the first race after an excellent performance.
S1GP Time practice & Superpole (Report)
The time practice defines the six best riders who will battle it out for the pole position in the Superpole. The final result was not clear until the very end of the session. Lukas Hollbacher (KTM Mtr Racing) had a great feeling at the German city circuit where he immediately took the lead. Home hero Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing Tm Factory) chased the Austrian rider while in the first part of the time practice Thomas Chareyre (TC4R1 Racing) struggled to find the right trajectories and set a solid time. The French rider qualified far from the front riders. With 5 minutes to go Marc Reiner Schmidt set the provisional fastest time, below one minute, but Lukas Hollbacher prevailed over his rival with less than two tenths of a second. Chareyre worked his way up and qualified in third place.
Like in the previous races, the battle for the pole position was among three riders, Chareyre, Schmidt and Hollbacher. The first one to get to the track was the multiple-time World Champion who improved his performance and took the lead. Nor Schmidt or Hollbacher could do better than him so the German rider qualified second and the Austrian rider was fourth. Third place went to Milan Sitniansky.
