THOMAS CHAREYRE TAKES THE VICTORY IN THE GP OF SARDINIA
Tramatza (Italy) 5 June 2022 – After the first race on Saturday, today the third round of the 2022 FIM Supermoto World Championship continued on the Sardinia Circuit WS98 in Tramatza, situated on the wonderful island of Sardinia. The track was perfectly prepared during the evening by the organization and with the spectators coming early everybody was ready for Sunday’s race day in Tramatza. After two exiting races it was SMX ASD rider Thomas Chareyre who took the overall victory in the GP of Sardinia. The fastest Rookie rider was TC4R1 rider Axel Marie-Luce.
S1GP FastRace
At 14:00 hours the lights dropped for the FastRace of the S1GP class here at the Sardinia Circuit in Tramatza, near Oristano on the west coast of Sardinia. At the start it was SMX ASD rider Thomas Chareyre who the hole shot into the first tight chicane, followed by KTM MTR rider Lukas Hollbacher and L30 Racing TM Factory rider Marc-Reiner Schmidt. Fourth position was the teammate of Schmidt, Elia Sammartin, who was followed by Gazza Racing rider Nicolas Cousin and his teammate Youry Catherine. Tuning Motorsport rider Milan Sitniansky was seventh in front TC4R1 rider Steve Bonnal, the fastest Rookie of yesterday. Gazza Racing rider Jannik Hintz was declared unfit after his crash yesterday in RaceOne. In front Chareyre, Hollbacher and Schmidt were checking out again despite the efforts of Sammartin. In the second lap Catherine made an mistake and had to restart the race from nineteenth position. Meanwhile Sitniansky was moving up passing Cousin for fifth place but than a crash threw him back to tenth. The crash of Sitniansky gave fifth place back to Nicolas Cousin and also Steve Bonnal moved up a spot. The young Frenchman was now in sixth place. In front Chareyre was still controlling the race giving Hollbacher and Schmidt no chance to pass him or even get close to him. Hollbacher and Schmidt were still fighting for second position, but a crash of Hollbacher in the off-road section made an end to that battle. Hollbacher could restart the race from third position just in front of Elia Sammartin who was still in fourth. After 14 laps the FastRace was won by Thomas Chareyre in front of Marc-Reiner Schmidt and Lukas Hollbacher. Steve Bonnal was again the fastest Rookie rider in this race.

Last race of the GP of Sardegna was the Superfinal for the S1GP class. At the start it was SMX ASD rider Thomas Chareyre who took the hole shot into the first corner followed by KTM MTR rider Lukas Hollbacher and L30 Racing TM Factory rider Marc-Reiner Schmidt. Behind Schmidt it was Elia Sammartin, his teammate who was in fourth in front of TC4R1 rider Axel Marie-Luce who had a good start. The top six was completed by Gazza Racing rider Nicolas Cousin. In the lead Chareyre was pushing very hard and no rider could match his speed this Sunday in Tramatza. From the start Chareyre controlled the race and planned his jokerlane lap perfectly giving Hollbacher and Schmidt no chance on the victory on the island of Sardinia. In fourth position it was still Elia Sammartin. The Italian TM rider gave all he could but only a smaal mistake from Schmidt made him to come closer but no enough to attack the German World champion. The battle for fifth was between Marie-Luce and Cousin. Cousin overtook Marie-Luce in the fifth lap but Marie-Luce was determined to pass Cousin back which he did a few laps later. In front nothing could stop Thomas Chareyre and the Frenchman finished in first place with a 7.805 second lead on Lukas Hollbacher who finished second. Third place was for Marc-Reiner Schmidt. The fastest Rookie was Axel Marie-Luce. With his victory Thomas Chareyre also took the overall victory in the GP of Sardinia.
