LUKAS HOLLBACHER TAKES THE VICTORY IN RACEONE IN FORCAREI

Forcarei (Spain), 21 August 2021 – The third round of the 2021 FIM Supermoto World Championship started today at the Circuito A Madalena in Forcarei. Forcarei is located in the Northwest of Spain in the region of Galicia. The racetrack is surrounded by green hills and is a combination of a fast straight, fast corners and a technical off-road section where riders can make the difference. After organizing a round in 2019 already, the organization prepared the track to its best. On Saturday the weather conditions were changing all day, which made it challenging for the riders and the teams but for the spectators, the race was again a spectacle. KTM MTR rider Lukas Hollbacher took the victory in RaceOne which was his first victory of the season for the Austrian rider.

Time practice & Superpole S1GP

The time practice of the S1GP class started at 15:40 hours at the Circuito A Madalena in Forcarei. The session started dry and all riders couldn’t wait to go on the track and to make sure to set a fast time as the weather conditions were changing every five minutes. In the beginning of the time practice, L30 TM Factory rider Thomas Chareyre, Phoenex Racing rider Marc-Reiner Schmidt and KTM MTR rider Lukas Hollbacher were pushing each other again to faster and faster laptimes on the slippery asphalt of the track. After ten minutes the light rain came back and most riders went inside the pitlane the some changes to their bikes. Towards the end of the practice conditions got better again and all riders went back on track so make sure they qualified themselves for the Superpole. At the end of the session it was Thomas Chareyre who set the fastest time in front of Hollbacher and Schmidt.

The Superpole started directly after the time practice. First rider on track was SMX Racing rider Mickael Amodeo and the Frenchman had to set the first time. Unfortunately Amodeo made an mistake in the last corner of his Superpole lap and knew he had to settle for last. Second rider was Phoenix Racing rider Milan Sitniansky and the experienced Czech was the first to set a time of 1:07:968. The teammate of Sitniansky, Elia Sammartin was next, but the Italian rider couldn’t beat the fastest time of Sitniansky. After Sammartin, it was time for another Phoenix Racing rider. Marc-Reiner Schmidt was the first rider to a time under 1:07:00 and took the provisional pole. MTR KTM rider Lukas Hollbacher was the penultimate rider and the Austrian rider was faster than Schmidt even with some small mistakes in the off-road section. Last rider on the track in Forcarei was Thomas Chayere and the Frenchman was on fire and was the only rider who set a time under the 1:06:00 mark. With a time 1:05:943, Chareyre took the pole position for the RaceOne later this Saturday.

S1GP RaceOne

The first race of the weekend for the S1GP class started at 18:00 hours in the late afternoon in dry and good weather conditions. At the start it was KTM MTR rider Lukas Hollbacher who took the hole-shot into the first fast right corner in front of L30 TM Factory rider Thomas Chareyre and Phoenix Racing rider Milan Sitniansky. The teammate of Sitniansky, Marc-Reiner Schmidt had a less good start and was in fourth position with right behind him Elia Sammartin and SMX Racing rider Mickael Amodeo. Hollbacher and Chareyre both had a fast pace and benefited from the bad start of Schmidt, who was already third in the second lap. Schmidt gave all he could but his race pace was enough to catch up with Hollbacher and Chareyre. Behind the top three Sitniansky and Sammartin had their own battle, like Amodeo and L30 TM Factory rider Diego Monticelli, but this battle was soon over as Sammartin was faced with technical problems on his TM after a crash and had to retire. Sammartin’s bike caused a red/yellow flag in one of the corners and with Hollbacher slowing down for this flag, Chareyre took his chance and passed the Austrian rider. Schmidt was still in third. Chareyre tried to get away from Hollbacher but, with the speed high he had to take some risk as Hollbacher was closing in again. In lap 12, Chareyre made an mistake in the last corner of the track leaving first position wide open for Hollbacher and also Schmidt was able to pass the Frenchman. With a comfortable lead on Schmidt, Hollbacher could control the race until the finish line, taking his first victory of the season for him and the KTM MTR team. In second place it was still Schmidt but Chareyre closed in quickly but the attack of Chareyre came too late and he had to settle for third position. Fourth position was for Milan Sitniansky and the top five was completed by Diego Monticelli.
