2019 S2 SUPERMOTO EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP READY TO START IN OTTOBIANO
Ottobiano (Italy), 12 April 2019 – After a long winter break, the 2019 S2 Supermoto European Championship is about to start this weekend at Ottobiano, Italy. The famous Ottobiano Motorsports Park in Pavia will host the first race of the S2 Supermoto European Championship, an venue which already hosted the opening event the last two years, but also many other events in the past. Ottobiano Motorsports is one the best utilized circuits in Europe. New In 2019 is the fact that the S2 Supermoto European Championship is back in combination with an separate event called the S1 Supermoto World Cup with the best riders from all around Europe and the rest of the World. Like in 2018, the S2 Lites class will also be back again this year. A new class is the Junior Cup class for young riders under the age of 21. the battle for the victory in Ottobiano will be full of action again and a great start of the 2019 season.
At the first round In Ottobiano the defending European champion TM Factory Racing Team rider Thomas Chareyre will be present again on the starting grid, together with his teammate at TM Factory Racing, Italian rider Diego Monticelli. The French multiple Supermoto champion will try to take the European title again this season, but the competition will be even harder than in 2018 when Chareyre the title in the last race of the season. Degasoline Motorsport is also back on the starting grid this year. The team will be factory supported by TM and will have the two same riders as in 2018. Czech rider and title contender Pavel Kejmar will be joined again by Estonian rider Patrick Pals. Pavel Kejmar will try to get his first European title after his second place in championship last year.
After their successful debut in 2018, Team Phoenix Racing will have three strong riders for this season. German Husqvarna rider Markus Class, last year’s number three in the championship, will be joined by Italian rider Elia Sammartin, winner of the Lites class in 2018, and French rider Nicolas Cousin. All riders showed already some impressive speed in the pre-season and will be chasing the title in 2019. Spanish team Suzuki Grau Racing will have four international riders on the grid. Jaume Gaya, Pedro Rehn, Daniel Guzman and Marcelo Silvero will defend the yellow Suzuki colours in Ottobiano. TMS Tuning Motorsport will be lead this year by former European Champion Petr Vorlicek. The team based in Czech Republic will have three riders in 2019. Last year’s number four of the European championship Milan Sitniansky will be joined by two Brazilian riders. Rafael Fonseca and Kleber Justino will be traveling all the way to Europe to join all races this season.
Oldest team in the paddock, MTR KTM Racing from Franco Mollo, will celebrate his 15th season in the Supermoto championships in 2019. The orange KTM based team will be presented in Ottobiano by Finnish rider Eero Madisson. After doing some rounds last season, Vertemati Racing is back in 2019 and will compete in the entire championship. The own build Vertemati machine will be raced by Michael Vertemati. Team Birba Racing is also present again with the young Italian rider Gioele Filippetti. Gazza Honda Racing will have one rider at the start in Italy. Italian rider Luca Ciaglia, has extended his contract with Gazza Racing again and will ride the new 2019 Honda.
Next to the teams, lots of private riders will also be present in Ottobiano to join the action. After doing most of the rounds last season, TM Andorra Racing rider Raoul Tschupp will on the grid again on his TM. Another TM rider who is back again this year is the very experienced rider from SBD Union Bike rider Giovanni Bussei. In 2018 Eric Provaznik made his debut and the fast Czech rider from Region Region CZ is back this season as well on his Yamaha. Scandinavia will be represented by Danish Husqvarna rider Simon Vilhelmsen and Swedish KTM rider Hampus Gustafson. The will be completed by German rider Jannik Hintz and Swiss rider Yannick Bartschi.
In total 25 riders from 11 countries will start this weekend at the first race of the S2 Supermoto European Supermoto Championship in Ottobiano. In a field of factory teams, private teams and riders the action will be intense and full of tension at the first race of the new season.
