THESSALONIKI IS READY FOR THE FOURTH ROUND OF THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Thessaloniki (Greece) – 13 July 2018, After a month the S1 Supermoto European Championship is being continued in Greece. The fourth round of the championship will be held in Thessaloniki at the Drivepark race track in the region of Central Macedonia. The racetrack is located close to the airport of Thessaloniki and has a mix of fast and medium speed corners combined with short straight and a special for event prepared off-road section. With the good and warm weather predictions for the weekend, the races will be full of speed and action again.
At the third round of the championship in Poznan last month, the red plate went home with Degasoline rider Pavel Kejmar and the fast Czech rider is determined to keep the until the end of the season. Together with his teammate at Degasoline, Patrick Pals, Kejmar will try to take the victory in Thessaloniki, but the competition is hard at this stage of the season. Lot’s of riders are getting stronger and stronger and the battle for the victory is harder than ever. After his injury sustained in Poznan, TM Factory Racing rider Thomas Chareyre is back on the track and with the victory in the International of France two weeks ago, the Frenchman showed that is he not coming to Greece for damage control but to take the victory. Chareyre will be accompanied in Thessaloniki by his teammates Diego Monticelli, currently 6th in the standings, and Spanish rider Joan Llados. Second place in the championship currently is for Tuning Motorsport rider Milan Sitniansky. The Czech rider is also present in Greece to set some good results. Phoenix Racing Team is also present in Greece and like in all other events, the Italian team has four riders at the start. German Husqvarna rider Markus Class, who is currently in third place in the championship is one of the riders of the Italian team who will go for the victory again. Alongside Class, Italian rider Elia Sammartin, French rider Nicolas Cousin and Swiss rider Luc Hunziker will defend the blue colours of the team. Sammartin is the S1 Lites class and will try to keep winning like in all other rounds. The SWM Factory team will be back to action as well in Thessaloniki. Finish rider Mauno Hermunen will make his comeback after his injury sustained in Albaida at the start of the season Second rider of the SWM Factory team Edgardo Borella sustained a knee injury in Poznan, but will be present in Greece as well. The Italian rider will not be in top shape but will try to get the best result possible. Spanish Suzuki Grau Racing will have two riders in Greece. Spanish riders David Gimenez and Jaume Gaja will defend the yellow colours of Suzuki. The oldest team in paddock MTR KTM from Franco Mollo has three riders present in Thessaloniki and with the riders having some good and strong results in the last races, the team is full of confidence. French rider Laurent Fath, Belgium rider Romain Kaivers and Finnish rider Eero Madisson will defend the orange colours of KTM. Gazza Honda Racing has also travelled to Thessaloniki and will have three riders at the start this weekend. Italian riders Luca Ciaglia, Daniele di Cicco and Finnish rider Aaro Harvia will be riding for the team of Max Gazzarata.
Not only the bigger teams have made the long trip to Greece but also the smaller private teams and riders are there. RAW Motorsport riders Steve and Eddy Pasco, Werk64 rider Raoul Tschupp are back in action as well this weekend. After missing some races J-Team rider Gabriele Gianola is also back in action in Greece. In total 29 riders will be on the grid this weekend in Thessaloniki, Greece.
On Saturday the 14th of July the free practices and time practices will be held. The first race on Sunday start at 12:00 hours.
